When you’ve had not one but two adventures in the same day only a laundry basket with warm clothes fresh from the dryer will do for your afternoon nap. ~ Gus Kitty
Note: Gus explored more of the yard today including the barn which according to his air tag is 98 feet from the house. This is the furthest he’s ever gone. I really wish he didn’t like the great outdoors quite as much. ~ My Margret
Tree tops are overrated. Hanging out on Scruffy’s roof is the place to be! ~ Gus and Graham Kitties.
My Margret Note: there is a small canopy, a short hop up from the pup porch steps covering a small area of the pup pen between the house and shop. It was put up because Scruffy doesn’t like getting rained on and would refuse to go out to the pup pen when it was raining. A perk of living with a do it yourself problem solving guy is that he comes up with solutions to some frustrating situations and has the know how to make it happen. An added perk when standing on it the Kitty Boys can look directly into the kitchen.
You know when you want to explore the big yard like your brother but it’s scary. Then you can’t figure out how to get back into the pup pen so your My Margret shows you. Then you’ve gotten yourself so fussed up that you are hot and panting so your My Greg fixes up a quiet place in the house with a nice breeze so you can calm down and cool off. Later you’re still tired but feeling better and you move into the dining room with the big cat tower and just sprawl on the top platform while your brother keeps an eye on you? Yeah all of that! ~ Graham Kitty
I’m sleeping off my latest adventure. Last night I snuck out and climbed the tree after it was dark. I startled a big bird who couldn’t get away from me fast enough and made a lot of noise. I’m a brave Kitty but I admit loud noises scare me a lot. When My Margret came out to look at me I was too fussed up to follow her voice and climb down.
She knows the best thing to do when I’m like that is to give me the time and space to calm down.
My Greg came out a little while later and while shining a flashlight to light my way (like My Margret did earlier) he talked me down low enough that he could scoop me up and take me into the house.
The first thing I did was run to let My Margret know I was back in the house. She said “Buddy, you’re here!” and ruffled my fur, I was happy to see her. My Margret said she wished I wouldn’t do things like sneak out when it’s dark but what can I say there were night noises to explore. Um, don’t tell her but I’m finding that I much prefer exploring during the day. ~ Gus The Adventuring Cat
Note: Gus’s reflective collar, flashlight and air tag helped pinpoint his location. I saw and heard the commotion the bird made and understand why Gus was so scared. While we certainly don’t like that he snuck out in the dark we know that he is an excellent tree climber and although he sometimes likes to be coaxed he knows how to climb down and come back in the house. He’s keeping us on our toes, that’s for sure! ~ My Margret
