Scruffy Barked… I Purred ~ Graham Kitty

In an effort towards helping my sister pup Scruffy continue to get used to me I got to hang out in her crate while she barked. It only took her a few minutes to realize that playing “find it”with her treats was more fun than barking at me. Eventually she laid down next to the crate and we both took a quick nap. What did I do while she was doing all of that you might ask?
I purred ~ Graham Kitty

Note: we are ever watchful of both Graham and Scruffy to make sure neither becomes stressed. Lots of good boy and good girl praise and Graham had treats in a bowl right next to him but he’s not sure yet if he really likes treats. Given time I’m sure that will change too.
We haven’t tried any of this with Gus as he prefers to maintain a distance from the loud barky sisters. Graham usually convinces him to join in when he’s not sure of something and we are confident in time that’s what will happen here too. ~ My Margret

Me? I’m Not Sassing Scruffy ~ Graham Kitty

Me? I’m not sassing Scruffy, I’m just sitting here minding my own business. ~ Graham Kitty

Note: Still a work in progress. We now leave the double doors open when we are home and the kittens have full access to the rest of the downstairs via the kitten door. For the most part they only venture in when the pups are not in the livingroom. It’s noteworthy that Scruffy doesn’t bark up a storm anymore every time she lays eyes on the kittens. A lady who works at our vet clinic said it took 4 months for her terrier to get used to her kittens. We’re coming up on 2 months and making progress even if it seems excruciatingly slow. ~ My Margret
