Belle Update

This morning My Margret took my cone off to see if I would leave the hotspot on my paw alone.

Nope, it was still itchy so I did what a pup does which is lick. it. a. lot.

She then took a look at my ears and sighed. Then immediate brought out the cotton balls and ear wash. While she was wiping out my yucky ears she saw a hotspot on one of my ear flaps.

Our vet office found an appointment for me in an already very busy day. They said you don’t let a hotspot go untreated over the weekend.

I’ve got to tell you I was (and kinda still am) mad at My Margret. She wouldn’t let me sit in the front seat. She said I was going to have to wear my cone again. Then she wouldn’t let me hide in the corner when the dr came in to see me. Something about the dr needing to see my ears and paw so he could help me feel better. To make sure she knew I was mad I refused to look at her although I made sure to stay close by her so she could call me sweet girl and rub my tummy.

I got a shot that should help me not feel itchy and feel better soon.

Tonight My Margret sat down beside me and started to brush my fur. It felt so good that I kind of (but not quite) forgot why I was mad.

Miss Belle the Yuckier the Better!

Despite my best efforts to keep My Margret from finding my hot spot this happened last night.

Guess I didn’t hide it as good as I thought.

Tonight when she came home she called me to come to her and while she was petting me she reached down to feel my paw. It was soaking wet because well you know it’s itchy and no matter how hard I tried I just had to lick it.

My Margret put this on my hot spot last night and this morning in hopes that I wouldn’t want to lick it. The smell cleared out all of our sinuses but you know once I got used to the taste it wasn’t half bad!

But then this happened.

My Margret says we caught it early so I shouldn’t have to wear my cone for too long. I hope she’s right. Oh and she also promised me lots of tummy rubs.

Tester Kitty

I have pretty much handed over my duties as the “watcher over” the family to Belle Pup but every once in awhile I take on a special event.

This past weekend My Margret and My Greg’s oldest little people came to spend the weekend. It was called the First Annual Grandboys Weekend. Because this was a first I decided to be the watcher over and gave Belle some time off. She wanted to test the belly rub technique first though and said it was perfect.

I decided to test the two handed pat techniques. What an excellent job!

After that it was time to test for the ability to give gentle cheek scrunches while a cousin is being goofy.

Passed with flying colors!

Next was the the ability to give pats while reclining.

Totally Passed!

The final test was the ability to pose nice then get as goofy as possible.

I am happy to report that they all passed with flying colors!

I can’t wait until they come back for the Second Annual Grandboys Weekend!

Bonnie the Rebooted Pup!

I just wanted to thank everyone for their prayers and thoughts. Today marks the end of the week that the amount of water I was drinking needed to be monitored. My Margret called the vet today to let them know the “reboot” did the job and I’m feeling better!

My Margret and My Greg said they are still going to keep an eye on me but that’s just what they do.

Imaginarywhatchamacallit Scarer Awayer

I am so excited!

As you know one of my jobs is to keep my people safe from Imaginarywhatchamacallits.

They usually come out after dark. I’m usually in and out during the evening to check for them. Sometimes after we go to bed I try to wake up My Margret so she’ll let us out to chase them away. But no she just says ” It’s still night night time Bess” and throws the quilt over her head. When I hear that I go to the foot of the bed making sure to sigh loudly as I lay down.

Well it’s pretty great right now because My Margret and My Greg are keeping a close watch on my sister Bonnie. Every time she whines during the night My Margret gets up to let her outside.

Yep you guessed it! I convinced Bonnie to whine and sure enough My Margret got up not once but two nights in a row to let us um I mean let Bonnie (Belle and me too) outside. Although I did hear her say when we were coming back in to go back to bed last night something about crying wolf.

Hopefully Rebooted

I’ve been really thirsty and drinking a lot more than usual. I’ve also had a couple of accidents. One day last week My Margret followed me around out in our pup pen with a cake pan. Sometimes a pup just wants some privacy you know. I don’t think she would like it if I followed her around with a cake pan! Anyway she found out later that day from Kate the vet tech that I did not have a bladder infection or one of the form of diabetes.

My Greg took me a few days later to see Dr. Lundy. I got to stay overnight and meet a lot of new people. The folks who work there said I was a very happy pup. Although it was fun doing something new I was sure glad when My Greg and My Margret came to pick me up. They were as happy to see me as I was to see them!

I was so tired I took a long nap.

And dreamed happy dreams that made me smile.

My Margret talked to Dr. Lundy for a long time the next day and it was decided that they are going to watch and see if I’m still drinking more than I should for a week and go from there. Sometimes the test that they did when I stayed overnight can reboot the system and make everything work the way it’s suppose to again.

I had to stay in the house the next day while my sisters went outside. My Margret measured out water in a bowl then gave me a cozy blanket and some toys but I just wanted to be with my sisters. My Margret called me her sweet girl and ruffled the fur on my ears and said My Greg would be coming home at noon to give me a cuddle and check on me.

It’s only been a couple of days but so far I’m drinking normal amounts of water and that’s making us all happy.

Lucy the Church Bulletin Writer Helper Kitty

Back in the day when I was younger like a couple of years ago when I was 15 years old I would help My Margret when she was typing up the church bulletin.

I don’t help as much now that I’m 17 years old but this morning I decided she needed my help. Well truth is I needed some me time with her but don’t tell her I said so.

I asked My Margret to help me up on the desk where she was working on the bulletin. I helped hold down notes.

I checked out the music list to make sure she was using this month’s information.

And I kept her company so she wouldn’t get lonely.

I also exchanged a wrist hug for a gentle belly rub.

All of that work made me tired so I let My Margret finish up while I went back to take a nap.

Stinky Stuffies, Pup Cloud, and Cuddly Cozy Paws

My Margret asked me to go get a stuffie and I nosed it over to her instead of picking it up in my mouth. She asked me again for one and again I nosed it over to her. That’s when she realized that they were too stinky even for me and I started carrying My Greg’s socks.

She washed my stuffies not once but twice and that took the stinkyness right out of them.

That same day My Margret looked up and saw a pup cloud. She said it looked like it was running after a ball.

In preparation for Monday here are some pictures of cuddly cozy paws. Enjoy!

Owner Ear Cleaner Outer Award

Last night My Margret noticed my sisters licking my ears and sighed.

Before you could say cheese please my sisters went out to the pup porch and My Margret had gathered up my yucky ear fixer stuff. She always lets me find where I want to lay down and I always invite her to rub my tummy instead, it’s what we do. Ten million goopy cotton balls later and a squirt of some medicine in each ear she said ” Belle, I will rub your tummy until you get tired of it. And she did.

This morning we did a shortened version of that same thing and then late this morning she called our vet office. All she had to say was ” I’m pretty sure Belle Pup has an ear infection” when they put her on hold then came back to say they could squeeze me in to see the vet tech.

Kate the vet tech was very nice but you could tell she wasn’t a newbie as she cleaned out my ears, gave the fur around my ears a trim, and put in some medicine in both ears.

She was talking nicely to me and so was My Margret as they both gently body blocked me so I couldn’t get to the door, open it up, and leave. I know what you are thinking but I would have found a way! Oh and My Margret might have been laying across the wooden bench to help keep me still, but there are no pictures to prove that.

Kate told My Margret that chronic ear infections can crop up real quick. Then she went on to say that she had never see any owner do as good job as My Margret did when she cleaned out my funky gunky yucky ears last night. That really made My Margret feel like she had helped me.
