Visit From Friends

Bonnie

Bonnie

Mrs. Carolyn and Mr. Pastor are friends of ours and came to visit us last night.  Mrs. Carolyn always reads our blog and makes really nice comments that make us feel good.

We were happy to see them but we needed to be really careful as Mrs. Carolyn has a back owie that hurts a lot.  So my Margret and my Greg made sure we didn’t bump into her.  While Bess and Belle made the rounds to see everyone,  I wanted to stay by Mrs. Carolyn.  She does a real good job petting, I mean she’s so good she could give petting lessons.   I just sat quietly (well mostly) by her all evening.  She tried to stop a few times but I just looked at her and convinced her to keep petting me.

Our family is praying that all goes well with Mrs. Carolyn’s surgery in a couple of weeks, that she recovers quickly and comes back soon so she can pet me some more.

Rats! Foiled Again!

Rats! Foiled again!

You all know that I’m the “gotta go” chime ringer around here. I ring it when Bess wants to go outside. I ring it when Belle or Bess want to come back inside.  I also ring it when I want to distract my Margret and my Greg so I can see if they have anything good on their plates during supper time.

So the other day I discovered this awesome treat that’s on top of the washing machine, but that’s not a problem for me, I just stand up on my back legs and can reach it just fine thank you very much. Well anyway most of you know that Linus Kitty is the 4th Golden Retriever in this house and the yummy treats belong to him but because it’s his he doesn’t like to share, I mean come on you would think it was his supper or something.

So I thought of this awesome idea, Linus always comes running when I ring the “gotta go” chime because  he wants to go outside, my Margret won’t let him because he is an indoors kitty. But he keeps trying, in fact he’s been known to ring the chime and sit by the door in hopes that she’ll forget and let him out.

Ok so anyway…last night during supper I rang the chime and Linus runs over to the door leaving his food bowl as I was quietly walking over to the washing machine, my Margret asks me what I’m doing. I stood perfectly still and said “Me? I’m not doing anything”. Then she started to laugh and said “Bonnie, that’s Linus’s supper not yours.”  I couldn’t figure out how she knew what I was going to do, then I heard her tell Greg that she watched my eyes and while I didn’t move a muscle my eyes moved and looked up at Linus’s supper.

What Does Savor Mean?

My Margret and Greg brought us home a yummy treat the other night.

I was sooo excited to try it I could hardly sit still and gulped it down whole. Then I looked at my sisters and saw that they were laying down and were still eating theirs. I looked up at my Margret (because she explains things to me) and she said ” Oh Bessie, these are to be eaten slowly and savored, like a thin mint cookie with a cup of coffee.

She then gave me another one so I could “savor” it, and this time I took my time and ate it in two bites instead of one.

I don’t know what a thin mint cookie is and I’m still not sure what savor means, but I think it means that I get more than my sisters!

Bed Stealer

It was soooo much fun!  My Margret got up last night and when she came back to bed Belle and I were all snuggled down in her place.  She was sooo glad to see us that she said , “it’s still bedtime pups, we need to go to sleep… So you need to move…now.”

Silly my Margret, I don’t know what she was talking about we were sleeping.

Well that wasn’t too bad, you can open the door now!

Silly my Margret, you can take the gate down we’re ready !

What do you mean we can’t come downstairs until we’re dry?  PLEASE!!!

*Note from their Margret.  I gave them some new chew toys to help keep them busy during  the drying wait time. Obviously that didn’t work.

True to their personalities, Bess did the army crawl and hugged the floor so I couldn’t get her into the tub. After some moves that would have won us the grand prize in America’s Funniest Videos I managed to lift her into the tub. She was fine after that.

Bonnie was next and she jumped right in and had a great time, nuff said.

Belle wanting to be the good girl struggled with Belle I don’t want to take a bath pup.  I ended up lifting her front half into the tub and then she jumped in the rest of the way. She too did fine once she was in the tub.

None of them like the hair dryer which is why there is a longer drying time. Now if I could only get them to understand that!

Three Dog Night

2

I just don’t understand…

My Aunt Barb asked my Margret this morning if it was a “three dog night” how did she know?!   My Margret should have known something was up when we were all cuddled together when she came to bed.   When we got up it was cold, I heard her tell my Greg  that the furnace wasn’t working. I don’t know what that means but I think it has something to do with why it was cold.

My Greg went down into the place me and my sisters can’t go, it’s the same place that Linus goes when he doesn’t want to play with me.  I don’t know what my Greg was doing down there but there sure was a lot of banging and clanking.

While he was doing that my Margret went into the room where they keep their little people’s toys, (we can’t go into that room either *sigh*) and she brought a couple of boxes back in with her, that kind of scared me because I didn’t know what they were and everywhere I went she and the box went  it was like they were chasing me!   My Margret said they weren’t but it sure felt like it!  The next thing I knew it wasn’t so cold anymore and that was good.

Oh and what were my sisters doing while I was keeping track of my Margret and my Greg and the too cold house ?

What Does Persistant Mean?

Bess 1yr

My Margret is sooo silly!   This morning when I was trying to wake her up she kept talking about weekend night time whatever that is and that we get to sleep longer.  Now why would we want to do that?  I tried for a long time to wake her up but she just petted me and wouldn’t get up.

So I did what any pup would do, I got my big sister Belle to tell my Margret it was time to get up.  Belle walked all over her then tried to headbutted her, which is so cool, I’ve got to learn how to do that.  But that didn’t work either. *sigh*

So then I decided to play the game where I lick my Margret’s chin But now when she pulls the covers up over her face I just go under the covers to keep licking her chin.  I love that game so much that sometimes, well most of the time, I get excited and sneeze all over her face.  For some reason that usually wakes her up.

Oh and I think I have a new middle name! This morning right before my Margret got up she said “Bess, your middle name is persistent”

Not liking the Diet

IMG_1777

So like  there is something going on that I really don’t like.  Um like my food bowl gets empty faster than it did a few weeks ago.  So I ask you what’s up with that?  I heard my Greg and Margret talking and they have decided that since Belle has um how do I say this a small weight problem that they are going to feed us the same amount that she gets so we don’t get a weight problem now that we’ve had our lady surgery.  I  don’t like that plan.

Bess is liking it even less. My Margret is starting to stand between my bowl and the Bouncy Pup because the she is starting to help herself to my supper when she finishes hers.  Um yeah no, that’s not happening!  Their dance was very entertaining tonight, I can’t wait to see what they do tomorrow night.FullSizeRender
Bess told me that she is going to give our Margret sad eyes to make her feel bad so she’ll feed us more. So far that hasn’t been working. Although Bess does sad eyes really well, I asked her if she’ll teach me how to do that. My first lesson is tomorrow.

The only good thing about our new meal plan is that our friend Lexi’s Mom told my Margret about adding carrots to our kibble. They taste really good.   Silly Belle likes to take her carrots out of her food dish to save for dessert.

IMG_1771  She told me to try it that but I think I’ll give the sad eyes a try first!
