One Lovely Blog Award

One lovely blog award

I’d like to thank  my new friends at Tales of Tucker for the One Lovely Blog Award. If you haven’t visited their site please take the time to do so. They are awesome!https://talesoftucker.wordpress.com

1. I have always had dogs in my life and usually multiples.  How I  interacted with the dogs from my childhood differed  from the interaction with the dogs when Greg and I  were raising our family and also differ from how we interact with our pups now.  The only thing that does not differ is the fact that they were all special, well loved and our past pups helped to mold me into the person that Bonnie, Belle and Bess know today.

2.  Over the years we have had rescue dogs, purebred dogs from reputable breeders, and puppies from neighborhood litters.  All had their own special challenges and joys.

3. We had three dogs who had puppies, one litter from a Baya, a dalmation that we rescued and yes we knew she was going to have puppies when we brought her home.   Then Scruffy our Westie and Nacheon our Sheltie each presented us with pups,  All the pups were mixed breeds and I was careful to find good homes for them.  My two favorite stories from that time I will never forget the look on a boy’s face, he must have been about 10 when they came to our house when I brought out his puppy and laid it in his arms.  He couldn’t believe it, he kept saying she’s mine?   Then when we kept one of Baya’s  dalmation lab pups  and my son couldn’t decide on her name.  I remember after several days of indecision he looked down at the cover of TV Guide saw a picture of the show Murphy Brown and said her name is Murphy.  Murphy it was!

4.  I grew up on a farm and there were always farm cats around.  We didn’t have our first inside cat until after I was married.   Being a dog person it took awhile for me to fully appreciated the independent nature of kitties. But thanks to the patient teachings of Pete Cat, Lucy Kitty and Linus Kitty I am now a certified Dog/Cat person!

5. Bess is the keeper of our the yard,  she runs out to the pup pen, searches the area, gives a “all is good”, or “hello bark” to which the neighboring dogs will respond.  We live on a farm so you can hear faint barking from quite a distance.

6. The day before we went to Indiana to pick up Bonnie and Belle I received a phone call from the breeder who told me that Bonnie at 9 weeks had pushed open the door and led Belle into a freshly painted room.  So although she was able to get most of the paint off Bonnie might have a few paint specks, she did,  and that should have alerted us to the independent tomboy that our Bonnie is.

7. Belle is our nurse. When we don’t feel good she is the main pup who will come cuddle and quietly stay close.  We appreciate that and it’s proven to be  good medicine.

Ok that’s more than enough about us.

Now I get to give this award to:

The Taker Care of Everyone Pup

Today was a good day. It was so nice and warm out that we actually wanted to stay outside, and that hasn’t happened for a long time!

Bess was checking the fields, that’s her job to make sure everything is ok.

Sometimes she stands up to get a better look across the fields to the timber.

We were supervising Bess from our spots under the tree.

Later in the day, Bess was outside and wanted back in so Bonnie rang the gotta go chime or in this case the “Let Bess in” chime but our Margret ignored it so I had to take care of it.  I went in and laid my nose on my Margret’s arm and she got the message that Bonnie and I were serious and she stopped what she was doing and went to go get Bess.

My days are all like that,  I’m always busy supervising and taking care of my sisters, Linus, Lucy when she lets me and of course my Margret and my Greg.  I’m telling you it’s enough to wear this pup out.

The Other Puppy

So my Margret and I are still having slumber parties downstairs. Although we are now sleeping in the downstairs bedroom instead of on the living room sofa. I’ll be glad when my tummy owie is all better so me and my Margret can go back upstairs to sleep with my Greg and Belle and Bess.

The other night my Greg had to work really late so my Margret let Belle and Bess join our slumber party downstairs.  She couldn’t understand why none of us would go to the far side of the room to jump on our side of the bed.

I heard her tell our Greg tonight that she finally realized that none of us wanted to walk past the other puppy in the room.   She’s right, he won’t play with us at all. in fact he  acts like we aren’t there so me and my sisters have decided that we are just going to pretend that he isn’t there …except he is and we don’t want to walk past him, even to cuddle with our Margret.

“Just Be” Time Out

IMG_1697

Yesterday afternoon and evening was the best ever! My Greg is on call which means if something breaks down he has to go back to work and fix it. The night before yesterday he got 3 hours of sleep due to a call back and had to go back for another call back early yesterday morning and got home early in the afternoon.  So yesterday afternoon and evening we took a “just be” timeout.  My Margret says it’s important to take the time to “just be”.  It’s where we just take the time to do nothing, hang out and relax  in an effort she says to recharge our batteries.  I didn’t know we had batteries!

Yesterday was one of the coldest days we’ve had this winter so we were all snuggly with blankets.

IMG_1682

For the first part of the afternoon Bonnie (yep that another new cone) and I left a place in between us for our Margret so she could snuggle with us.  Which she did 🙂

IMG_1688

After a while Bonnie left and I had my Margret all to myself.  At one point she went to move and I put my paw gently on her leg to let her know I wasn’t done snuggling yet.      We sat that way almost all afternoon!

My Greg’s phone rang a couple of times later in the evening but it wasn’t his work so he got to stay home with us.

I like this “Just Be” stuff it’s nice taking a break from keeping track of my sisters and Linus, they can be a handful you know.  As well as taking care of my Margret and my Greg. I love them  but sometimes they have to be reminded to slow down.  Yep, we’re going to have to do this “Just Be” stuff more often.

Almost Back To Square One

IMG_1638

So like yesterday I was so happy to see my Margret come home from work. I was laying on the couch and didn’t hear her come in, she called my name and I couldn’t get to her fast enough, She told me that my welcome home was the best thing that had happened to her all day.

It’s amazing how fast things change…

A couple of things then happened at the same time, she saw my tummy and my Greg said, “yeah we need to talk about that.”  He went on to tell her how when he came home I welcomed him at the door without that silly cone.  I’m not telling how my cone came off,  (I made my sisters pinky um paw swear they wouldn’t tell.) My Greg is smart I didn’t even have to tell him that I had been licking my tummy.  My Margret said “we’re almost back to square one. Oh Bonnie Girl.” in a sad voice.

She put some of that powder stuff on my red yucky looking owie, which is fine because I know that means cheese.  It takes her so long to go get my cheese I have to help her along by bumping the back of her legs with my silly cone as we head to the kitchen , hmm maybe that thing is good for something after all.

So now I don’t get to go out to the pup porch and pen with my sisters except for a real quick potty break. I tried to tell them Melissa the vet tech said I could go out and play with them, but they told me that Melissa didn’t know that I would be taking off my cone and they have the final word not Melissa even though she is really nice.

*SIGH*   ~this is Bonnie “the almost back to square one pup” for the rest of the pups and kitties.

From Margret: The medicine is working and her tummy looks better this morning.  We’ll be keeping a close eye on it to see if we need to go back to the vet.  I’m echoing Bonnie’s sigh.

Cone of Royalty ….Again

1

Don’t I look regal and royal like in my cone of royalty?  I might need a bit more practice to really achieve that look.  Well that’s ok because I have 2 more weeks worth of wearing this silly looking cone!  *SIGH*

My Margret took a look at my tummy owie early this morning saw that there were three quarter size yucky looking spots inside of the large red area on my tummy and immediately called my Greg to tell him that she thought she should call the vet.

He agreed, she did and they told her to bring me right in so they could take a look at me.  I didn’t want to leave the house again but my Margret tricked me with some cheese that got me to the door but then she had to “Mom”  me to get me to go down the steps.   I did get to sit in the front seat of the van so that was ok.

Once at the vet clinic I got to see my friends who like to pet me and call me sweet girl    The vet tech said I had licked my tummy so much that it became infected. The vet came in to look at my tummy and he told my Margret that the more it itched the more I licked it ,which caused it to itch more which then made me lick it more and so on. So I had to have a shot to stop the itching but when I looked around to see what my friend the tech was doing she was done.   I also have an antibiotic powder that will help dry up the yucky stuff.  I don’t like it when my Margret puts that on but I do get a piece of cheese which is my all time most awesome favorite treat.

I heard the vet say that in a couple of days my Margret can take off the cone and see if I go back licking my tummy, if I do then I need to go back for another stop itching shot.  If I don’t then it means that today’s shot took care of it.  I got pretty excited at the thought of only having to wear the cone for a couple of days until  I heard him tell my Margret that after that the cone goes back on until my tummy owie is completely healed…2 weeks worth of completely healed.

I must admit I wasn’t a very good girl when my Margret was checking out.  I was ready to go so I kept pulling on the leash, hard, which made my Margret spin like a top, that was fun so we did that a couple of times.  Then my friends talked to me for a bit to distract me but I was still ready to go and it took forever to get out that door! I heard my Margret tell my Greg that I must have been feeling a little better because I certainly wasn’t behaving very well. Now really would you behave if you had just been told you had to wear that silly cone for two more weeks?

The Yucky Tasting Stuff Liking Pup

IMG_1458

So yeah, it’s me wearing that silly “cone of royalty” again.    My Greg put it back on me last night because my tummy owie is red from where I’ve been licking it.  Why am I licking it? Because it’s itchy!!!

My Margret put that yucky tasting stuff on it earlier in the evening that makes it taste bad so I won’t lick it but like you know after awhile it didn’t taste too bad!

One Lovely Blog Award

untitled

Oh my goodness, thank you Lexi for nominating us for the One Lovely Blog Award. That’s awesome! Folks be sure to go and visit Lexi at  https://lexitheschnauzer.wordpress.com/  she is very special.

So according to the rules of this award we need to tell 7 things you might not know about ourselves.  So here we go:                                                                                                           Lucy Kitty: I was born on the farm and when I was a little kitten just learning how to climb I climbed up to the windows in the landing between the first and second floors of the house and meowed to be let into the house.  It looked like such a fun place to be.  I did it three times with my Margret bringing me into the window and back outside before she called my Greg and asked if I could become an indoor kitty with Pete Cat.    My Greg said said yes and 15 years later I’m still ruling the roost.

Linus Kitty: Shhh…don’t tell anyone but I’m really a Golden Retriever.                               My best friend Belle taught me everything I need to know about being a pup.

Bonnie Pup:  I’m the “gotta go chime” ringer if Bess or sometimes Belle need to go out or come back in. I take my job very seriously.

Belle Pup: If Bonnie or Bess don’t want to come in the house right away my Margret tells me to go get them so I go out give them my sister stare and in they come.  I also go wake up my Greg on Sunday Mornings.

Bess Pup: I have a mohawk on my nose instead of my head. It’s really quite stylish.

 Bonnie and Belle are littermates.

Bonnie Belle and Bess share the name Belle.  Their AKC names are Abbott’s Timber Creek Bonnie Belle, Mae Belle and Bessie Belle.    Belle looked more like a Belle than a Mae so she became Belle.  There are days when our Margret wants to call us Charley, Sam, and Ed when she goes though all the B’s to find the name of who she is talking to!

Now here are our Nominees:                                                                                                        Storm and Andrew at https://dogcalledstorm.wordpress.com/

Back To Normal!

1FullSizeRender

Do you notice anything different? Yep, that’s right no more Cone of Royalty for this girl!

My Greg and Margret took me today to get my stitches out.  I didn’t want to go for a ride and after planting my stubborn paws down and not budging from the house. My Greg picked me up and carried me to the car.  My Margret sat in the back to keep me company but when I’m scared I want to be by my Greg instead.   After a few minutes of trying to sit in his lap I moved over and sat in the passenger seat. I did the same thing on the way home when my Margret was driving, they noticed that I’m not as afraid of riding when I am sitting in that seat.  Well of course not, because I’m too busy being a much needed co-pilot to be scared.

IMG_1450

Oh and the tech that took out my stitches was really nice, I remembered her from before. I made her stop twice while she was taking out my stitches so I could give her a kiss and she could pet me.  She kept calling me “sweet girl.”

Best of all I got to be out in the pup porch and pen with Belle and Bess now and it was so much fun we got to play in the mud!    I’m so glad to be back to normal.  I think everyone else is too!

This is Bonnie the “no more wearing the Cone of Royalty stitch free” pup signing off for the rest of the pups and kitties.
